Our manifesto
Faction. n. 'A minority group working within, and in opposition to, a majority group.'
When we founded Faction, our manifesto was (and continues to be) to build the best high performance skis we can, without compromise. Our focus is on providing versatile, progressive products that answer the needs of freestyle and freeride skiers - designed by riders, for riders. Every person involved in Faction, from the people working here in the office through to the guys in the warehouse and the team riders on the hill as well as you the consumer, has a say in how we design, build and manage our products.
Our design and manufacturing process is centred around the idea of 'responsibility'. In our Design Department, this means working on new shapes and camber lines that make the skis easier to use and more versatile than ever. In Manufacturing, this means selecting FSC controlled regrowth forests for our cores through to using water-based inks in our topsheets rather than UV cured inks. In Logistics it means limiting the shipments we do to bulk-shipments and using centralised distribution centres to control pollution, as well as building specific packaging to limit waste. In Sales it means selecting the stores we work with to ensure a high standard of after-sales service to the consumer, and keeping our pricing fair. In the office it means researching our electricity supplies to use hydro or wind wherever possible.
Skiing to us has always been about community and friendship, coupled with a unique relationship to the environment and the mountains we live in. Although based in Verbier, Switzerland the Faction team includes Australian, Canadian, American, Swiss, French and English staff... as well as new friends from all over the globe. All of us focussed on bringing the best products we can to you... and skiing as much as we can.
